In today’s highly specialized regulatory climate, few municipalities, water districts or developers have the in-house resources needed to comply with the complex web of regulations surrounding water supply systems. Jacobson Satchell Consultants’s staff is ready to assist you.
First enacted in the 1970s, the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), with its significant amendments, has had dramatic impact on the water supply industry. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to promulgate new regulations to comply with the requirements of the SDWA. Many significant issues, such as the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR), lead and copper, arsenic, disinfection and disinfection by-products, will continue to impact small and large water systems, resulting in an increasingly complex regulatory and technical arena. The use of surface water and ground water resources and utilizing conjunctive use scenarios to meet water supply needs has become more complex.
